Glass photography is one of the most popular topics we get when talking to customers. We are here today to share some inside tips about shooting a wine bottle, glass cup, etc.

1. Backlight

One of the most common mistakes you can make is to shine front light onto a reflective product. The shoot can become so much easier if you use backlight. You will have less reflections to worry about.

2. Background

Using a peculiar background can add different moods to the shoot.

If you are wanting to shoot something more dramatic and elegant, we would recommend that you use a black backdrop. Our Foldio3 Backdrops are made from a velvet material that helps reduce reflections, so we would suggest that you look for a similar material if you are going to shoot glass products.

3. Light placement

Oftentimes, if you feel that your product appears two-dimensional, adding another light source can help add depth to the product. Adding one Halo Bar light on the side can help your image look more full. You can also play around with a reflector instead of another light source.

4. Freeze your glasses

Our last secret tip is to freeze your glass. If you are about to shoot a beer or margarita, the frost that builds up on a frozen glass will help you reduce the reflections during the shoot.
